Leviton has successfully achieved a 29% drop in overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the 2021 baseline year, a major step towards its goal of becoming carbon neutral company-wide by the year 2030. According to certain reports, Leviton achieved the given feat, by and large, because of its CN2030 program, which basically leverages on-site renewable energy generation, accelerated energy efficiency efforts, a shift to renewable and clean energy providers, and significant investment into certified carbon offset projects to mitigate emissions. More on the initiative would reveal how it is made up with largest impact, an impact which translates to its success in carbon and energy reduction, innovation, reducing jobsite waste, maximizing recycling, and promoting water stewardship. Having referred to its makings, we now must turn our attention towards how exactly the program has helped Leviton achieve its environmental goals thus far. In that regard, we begin from the way it particularly allowed Leviton’s Network Solutions business unit to achieve a 55% reduction in GHG emissions from a 2021 baseline. Next up, we must get into a fact that the number of CN2030 program carbon-neutral manufacturing sites would effectively grow from 9 in 2022 to 17 in 2023. Moving on to Leviton’s Lighting Controls business unit, it would manage to reduce its carbon emissions by 17% from the 2021 baseline year. Not just that, the unit in question now also has two facilities that are CN2030 program carbon neutral.
“We made significant progress last year toward our CN2030 goal, especially with our Network Solutions business unit’s carbon neutrality achievement two years ahead of schedule,” said Ross Goldman, Chief Sustainability Officer and Executive Vice President/General Manager of Leviton Network Solutions. “We have over twenty major facilities where 62% of their energy has now transitioned to a clean source, and all four of our business units contributed significantly to our CO2e emission reductions. We are more excited than ever to keep the momentum going to further drive our progress toward a lower carbon future.”
Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t acknowledged how Leviton’s Commercial & Industrial business unit also cut back on its own emissions by 8%, as compared to the established baseline. Rounding up highlights for us are going to be two LIVE Leviton sites, where professionals can directly experience Leviton solutions in real-time and further their industry and product knowledge. These sites also became CN2030 program carbon neutral over the course of 2023.
Founded back in 1906, Leviton has actually risen up on the back of its electrical wiring devices, lighting energy management solutions, networking solutions, security and home automation and commercial data infrastructure products. At present, the company offers a product line made up from more than 25,000 devices for virtually every conceivable residential, commercial and industrial wiring device need.
“I am very proud of our company’s achievements to date through our CN2030 program,” said Daryoush Larizadeh, President and CEO of Leviton. “Global greenhouse gas emissions are still on the rise, so as a leader building what’s next to light, power, and connect everyday spaces, it is incumbent upon us to take action and minimize emissions as quickly as possible.”
