Grundon Takes Charge of Waste Management at Ashton Gate Stadium

New partnership aims to boost recycling, compliance, and sustainability across Bristol Sport Group sites

Bristol, UK, 2 February 2026 – Grundon has been appointed as the new waste management partner for Ashton Gate Stadium and the Bristol Sport Group, marking a major step towards improved recycling and greener operations.

Operating from its bases in St Philip’s, Bristol, and Bishop’s Cleeve near Cheltenham, Grundon will manage waste services across Ashton Gate Stadium as well as the Robins and Bears performance centres. The focus will be on better waste handling, meeting compliance standards, and increasing recycling performance across all facilities.

Bristol Sport Group facilities manager Max Wilshaw said the company was chosen after a detailed tender process. He highlighted Grundon’s long-standing reputation and local presence, adding that the partnership will support sustainability goals under Project Whitebeam, an initiative aimed at reducing environmental impact.

Grundon is the UK’s largest family-owned waste management and environmental services provider, working with around 15,000 clients nationwide. Its portfolio includes major sports and event venues such as Silverstone Race Circuit, Ascot Racecourse, and Twickenham Stadium, as well as Gloucestershire Cricket and Forest Green Rovers.

Stephen Hill, general manager for group commercial development at Grundon, said the company is pleased to support Ashton Gate Stadium and the Bristol Sport Group in their journey towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.

Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Berkshire, Grundon provides end-to-end waste management services across the South of England. These include waste reduction, reuse, recycling, recovery, and responsible disposal.

Since opening its St Philip’s depot in 2020, Grundon has expanded its footprint across Bristol, securing contracts with organisations such as Bristol Zoo Project, Wake The Tiger, and Bristol Golf Centre. The company has also strengthened its green credentials by introducing a £300,000 state-of-the-art electric waste collection vehicle on the city’s roads.

With this new partnership, Ashton Gate Stadium and the Bristol Sport Group are set to enhance sustainability efforts, improve recycling rates, and reinforce their commitment to environmentally friendly sports venue operations.
