Basing Your Packaging SOPs on a Smarter and Sustainable Foundation

Ranpak Holdings Corp., a global leader of sustainable paper-based packaging solutions for e-commerce and industrial supply chains, has officially announced the introduction of three new products that are all designed to bring automation and protective paper technology together into integrated solutions.

According to certain reports, the stated products arrive on the scene bearing an ability to let packers achieve greater productivity, quality, consistency, and sustainability, while simultaneously improving upon labor efficiency and ergonomics within their packing operations.

Talk about the given solutions on a slightly deeper level, we begin from the PadPak® Multi-Station™, which can deliver at your disposal a steady stream of paper cushioning to up to ten individual pack stations. This it does by helping the packer automatically access cushioning pads with exceptional efficiency.

Such a setup, like you can guess, treads up a long distance to combine the best elements of automation and sustainable paper packaging. Not just that, it also eliminates the need for multiple converters, as well as improves the overall ergonomics.

More on PadPak® Multi-Station™ would reveal how it banks upon an automation line to get its single central PadPak® paper converter to supply 100% recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable paper pad for up to ten packing stations continuously.

Another detail worth a mention here is rooted in the solution’s modular and highly customizable design, which saves substantial amount of space, and at the same time, bolsters productivity by delivering pads directly to the packer. In fact, this very modularity of the solution makes it possible for the layouts to adapt to specific packing needs, and therefore, integrate quite seamlessly into spaces with unique dimensions.

The next solution in line would be DecisionTowerâ„¢ with FillPak Tridentâ„¢, which essentially deploys computer vision to measure and precisely dispense paper void fill. The stated dispensing is markedly done through a connected FillPak Trident â„¢ converter, with the FillPak SLâ„¢.

Anyway, you see, by combining sophisticated vision technology with sustainable paper packaging materials, the solution can help your packaging process become less wasteful, and more consistent, along with being well-equipped to provide a better customer experience during unboxing.

All in all, you can facilitate upto 35% paper reduction using this combination of active void measurement and the use of those unique triangle-shaped paper pads, pads that are specifically engineered to fill space with the minimum required amount of paper materials.

Among other things, we ought to mention that the solution can also automatically adjust to different box types and void volumes, allowing an easier mechanism to use with limited-to-no operator training. This translates to how the end customer can recycle the paper packaging materials they receive in a rather simplified fashion.

Moving on to third and final solution in play, it is launched under the name of The Pad’it!™. The Pad’it!™ is capable of automatically inserting a unique waved paper cushioning pad at the bottom, top, or both top and bottom of a package, providing an extra layer of protection in the box.

In essence, the stated automated system is prepared to create, pick, and place pads for the purpose of reducing manual labor. It also mandates minimal training, something which should lead to enhance operational productivity.

Beyond that, the system can add extra padding to up to 15 boxes per minute, keeping pace with other automation solutions on a line. In case that wasn’t enough, the solution can even ensure precise pad placement for a uniform, visually appealing package by using a robotic arm and the WrapPak® Protector converter to eventually improve both in-the-box protection and the unboxing experience.
